About us
Salud Peluda exists to answer, clearly and without fluff, the questions anyone who lives with a dog or a cat runs into: what's wrong, whether it's urgent, what it costs and what the law says.
When your dog throws up at 11 p.m. or you get the estimate for a surgery, you need information you can trust and understand quickly. That's what we try to give you in every guide.
Salud Peluda ("furry health" in Spanish) started in Spain, in Spanish. This English edition is written for pet owners in the United States, with US vet costs, US laws and US sources.
Who writes our guides
The site is run and edited by Sergio Barragán Martín, who is responsible for every guide we publish. We build each guide from recognized veterinary sources (veterinary schools such as Cornell and UC Davis, the Merck Veterinary Manual and professional bodies such as the AVMA, AAHA, CAPC or International Cat Care), from government agencies such as the FDA and from published laws, and we review them regularly.
At the end of every guide we link the sources we used, so you can check any fact.
Our commitment
We are not a vet clinic and we don't diagnose. Every health guide tells you clearly when to see a vet and which signs you shouldn't ignore.
How we are funded
The site is free for you. It is supported by advertising and, in some cases, affiliate links. No brand pays to appear in our guides or can change what they say. We explain this in detail in our editorial policy.
